The running hours on variable speed machine can count for a fraction of that on their fixed speed counterparts, as the lifespan of a compressor, measured in operational hours, is all about the condition of all the bearings within the motor and air end (compressor pump) so if you have a machine that is slowing down all the time, to what can be 20% of full speed, then in turn the revolutions of the bearings and the running hours could represent as little as the 20% of fixed speed units.
